Beeswax Workshop – Candles and Polish

Course Summary

This practical workshop provides an introduction to beeswax and its many uses. We will start with a block of raw beeswax and take it through the various preparation stages to produce bright, clean beeswax. From there we will make moulded, rolled and dipped candles. You will also learn how to make traditional beeswax furniture polish.

• the properties of beeswax

• preparation, cleaning and filtering beeswax

• melting beeswax safely

• the production of rolled, moulded and traditional dipped candles

• getting a professional finish on your candles

• making cream and paste furniture polishes

 

Level: Beginner and intermediate

Daily Programme: Coffee is available from 9.45am and the course starts at 10am. The course will finish promptly at 4.00pm. 

 

Course Fees £99.50, includes material costs.

 

Materials: Materials are included in your course fee. You can expect to take the following items home with you at the end of the day: a rolled beeswax candle, a pair of traditional dipped candles, two advent candles, a moulded beeswax candle, 25g beeswax block, beeswax furniture polish and cream.

There will be an opportunity to buy additional beeswax candles, and blocks of beeswax on the day. These will be paid for separately.

Please bring with you:

• an apron or an old over-shirt

• a packed lunch. Note that tea, coffee and cold drinks will be available during the day.

 

Location: North Moreton Village Hall, High Street, North Moreton, Didcot, OX11 9AS. Parking is available in the recreation field at the bottom of Bear Lane. Please park considerately.
